Welcome to The Keesh-cast. You've been Keeshed.
Forgive the appearance. Things are still under construction.

It is what it is.

Here's a podcast.  I'm actually really proud of this playlist.  For those of you in the NYC area, I hope you enjoy this with a warm cup of tea, perhaps spiked with rum, during this rainy week.

Here, Say

First of all, my sincere apologies for the delay this week.  I encountered an absurd number of technical difficulties which prevented a timely posting.  Nonetheless, this podcast was, in fact, recorded on Monday.

One of my favorite things about putting these casts together is that very often I'll have one idea when they start, and then it evolves into something else.  In this case, I realized how often the word 'say' appears in the title of some of my favorite songs.  This simple, three-letter word contains in it a simple command.  To say "say" is an imposition.  "Say yes," "Say no," "Say please," etc.  Or we often use it to segue into an example of something. "Let's say, for instance..." or "Say there's a watermelon..." and so on.  These simple nuances are what drew me to writing and creating in the first place.  Noticing small, simple words that make big sounds.

Enjoy the cast!

Death Or Glory

Death Or Glory

Well, what's done is done.  Osama Bin Laden has been killed during a siege of his hide-out in a mansion in Pakistan.  And while many are rejoicing in this triumph, I can't help but feel a certain uneasiness about it.  For one, there's no doubt that retaliation is on the agenda for the terror organization he's left behind.  And then there's the question of whether Pakistan knew of his whereabouts to begin with.  So, where does it end?  At what point do we throw up our arms and realize that none of us, none of this, is right?

This week's show is a meditation of sorts on these things.

Peace.

Have You Seen Me Lately?

Oh, hello!  Well, it's been quite sometime, now, hasn't it?  A bit too long, I'm afraid.  As I logged in today I was painfully reminded that I have been away for three whole months!  I don't suppose I should even attempt to begin to explain my absence, not to mention there is no real 'beginning' or 'end' to it all.  It's just one continuous noise, and every now and then a joyful sound arises from the din: music.  Here's some.

Valentine's Day Break-Up Mix: Vol.3

Well, it's a day late, but it's here.  The third annual Valentine's Day Break-Up Mix.  Special thanks to everyone who participated this year, and my sincere apologies for the delay.  To say my personal and professional life are in complete chaotic flux would be an understatement, hence my passion projects, such as this, are taking a back seat.

I very nearly had the cast finished on time, only to get a call from our good friend Emily Arin, who has recently relocated to Philadelphia, and has a new album coming out.  Greatness abound!  More on that later.

And as for romance, I feel inclined to give updates on this day each year since what inspired this tradition was my first dumping just days before Valentine's Day in 2009.  I was dumped again last summer, and have remained single and dating casually ever since.  My first dumper and I are on the mend, mostly as friends, which is really nice.  Those of us who have the opportunity to maintain our affections for each other in all their forms are very lucky.

In the meantime, I'm enduring in my aloneness.  It's wonderful.

Here's your break-up mix:

Renovation

Due to extensive renovations in Studio K, My Show will take a hiatus until further notice.  Let it me noted that in less than two weeks, we will celebrate the two-year anniversary of this podcast by putting together the third annual Valentine's Day Break-up mix.  I am also planning a renovation of this site, including a change in format and name.

Move with me!  Go with the flow!

Save Your Soul: Part 2

Due to even more extenuating circumstances, I had to skip another week of My Show.  The past two years seem to be one extenuating circumstance after another.  But My Show must go on.

Alas, the second installment of the Save Your Soul sessions.  This time, albums, artists, and songs with the word 'soul' in them.  The result is this wonderfully eclectic set of music.  Enjoy:

Save Your Soul: Part 1

The cold weather very often makes my soul sore, and puts me in a funk.  With the second big snow storm of the season slamming NYC between today and tomorrow, I'm stuck once more with no one else by own sorry self.  But whenever it comes time to try to shake it all of and get over myself, there's two little bottles on the top shelf labelled 'soul' and 'funk' that, when taken liberally, can cure any funk your soul gets into.

In the process of putting this cast together, I discovered the theme for next week's, so stay tuned for Save Your Soul: Part 2.  In the meantime, get snowed in with some soul music!
